The Hoursmith ChatGPT integration connects one workspace through your existing account login. Choose read-only or read/write access, then find projects and tasks, read time and invoice records, or log completed work. Your current workspace role and plan always determine what the connection can do.

What's in it
Login and explicit consent
Sign in through Hoursmith, select one workspace, and approve read-only or read/write access. You do not create or paste a personal API token.
Find work and read records
Search clients, projects, tasks, completed time, expenses, invoices, and members within your existing permissions. Private payout queries remain restricted to Owners and Admins and their existing feature gates.
Make permitted changes
A read/write connection can create and update clients, projects, tasks, completed time entries, and expenses. Destructive actions require explicit confirmation. Invoiced records stay locked.
One selected workspace
The connection remains attached to the workspace you selected. Switching workspaces in the web app does not move the connection. Connect another workspace separately or reconnect.
Revoke access immediately
Account → Security → Connected apps shows your connections and granted permissions. Revoking a connection stops both access and refresh credentials without deleting saved work.
Recover uncertain writes carefully
Hosted writes use a stable request ID to prevent the same request executing twice. If a result cannot be confirmed, inspect the workspace before deciding what to do next; the connection never automatically executes an uncertain request again.
How it works

1. Check preview availability
The integration must be enabled by the Hoursmith operator and connected in ChatGPT developer mode until directory review and publication are complete. Contact support for preview access.

2. Connect your account
Open the Hoursmith connection in ChatGPT and sign in through Hoursmith without creating or pasting an API token. Check the app name and callback site on the consent screen, choose a Studio or Agency workspace and review the requested permissions.

3. Ask about your work
Try ‘Show my completed time this week’ or ‘Find tasks for Project Atlas’. For changes, choose read/write consent and provide a specific action. Clarify ambiguous project or task names before changing records.

4. Manage the connection
Review or revoke connections under Account → Security → Connected apps. Reconnect to change the workspace or approve additional permissions.
What Hoursmith is not
The current integration cannot start or stop timers, create or send invoices, initiate transfers, bypass workspace permissions, or use direct email-sending tools. Notifications when a task is assigned follow each recipient’s saved preferences.
Common questions
Is Hoursmith already listed in the public ChatGPT directory?
Public directory publication is pending OpenAI review. The hosted integration starts disabled and must pass deployment, account-linking, and pilot checks before public release.
Which plans can connect?
Studio and Agency include the underlying API/MCP access. There is no separate Hoursmith plugin charge. ChatGPT availability also depends on OpenAI country and workspace policies.
What data does ChatGPT receive?
Tools return the records needed for your request from the selected workspace within your granted scopes and current role. OpenAI handles data received in ChatGPT under its own policies. Disconnecting does not delete data already returned to ChatGPT.
Can a Member access private financial data?
No. Members retain their own-time and project restrictions and cannot access protected client, expense, invoice, or payout data. Role, plan, and project-access changes apply to subsequent calls.
