Hours are scattered across client work
Design reviews, development and client calls all belong to a project. Log them while you work or add them later, with notes your invoice reviewer can understand.
The invoice means another spreadsheet
Pull eligible hourly time, fixed-project fees and billable expenses into one draft. Review the lines before you send, without retyping each person's timesheet.
One more contractor changes the software bill
Studio includes up to 10 members for $5/month total. The owner, employees and invited contractors all count toward that limit. Add help within it without another per-seat charge.
Collaboration should not expose client rates
Give Member-role collaborators access to their assigned projects, tasks and time without showing them client rates, invoices or financial reports.

Client projects, task boards and lists, timers, manual time and receipt-backed expenses stay together. Studio adds unlimited invoices, reports and CSV/PDF report exports.
Recurring invoices with a review step
Schedule a repeatable service fee, eligible unbilled hours and expenses, or a mix. Start with generated drafts. Guarded auto-send is optional and does not charge clients automatically.
Hourly and fixed-fee projects stay distinct
Use project rates for hourly invoices and allocate available contract fees for fixed-price work. Time tracked on fixed-fee or internal projects does not become an hourly invoice charge.
Your payment account and your sender
Connect your own Stripe account for online payments. Use Hoursmith's sender or configure SMTP, SES or Resend for invoices from your domain. Stripe processing and any email-provider fees are separate.
A practical path from Paymo or spreadsheets
The Paymo importer brings clients, projects, tasks, time and historical invoices. CSV/Excel imports are available too. Preview the import, map your team and check the result; imports have a 24-hour undo window.
Tasks stay connected to the bill
Plan client work on a global or per-project Kanban board, switch to a compact list, and keep multiple assignees, dates, priority, estimate, tags, checklist, comments, mentions, and files on the task. Start the timer there, add billable expenses to the client, then carry eligible time, fixed fees, expenses, and custom lines into the invoice.

Common questions
Is $5/month the whole team price?
Yes. Studio is $5/month per workspace for up to 10 members, including the owner. Annual billing is optional at $49/year. Member 11 requires Agency, which starts at $9.99/month for 25 seats; each additional Agency quantity adds 25 seats. Each workspace bills independently; payment processing and any external email-provider charges are separate.
What happens at the end of the trial?
Each workspace gets one 14-day trial shared across Studio and Agency, with no credit card required. Choose a paid subscription to keep paid features when it ends; you are not automatically charged. Otherwise Free limits apply: up to 3 members and 5 invoices per month, with your existing data kept. Changing plans does not restart the trial.
Does Studio include contractor payouts and team profitability?
Private Payouts, internal bills, team profitability and the activity audit log require Agency. Hoursmith records contractor payments made elsewhere; it does not transfer money or run payroll. Studio includes the core tasks, time and client-invoicing workflow.
When is Hoursmith not a fit?
If you need formal timesheet approvals, Gantt charts, dependencies, resource planning, custom task columns or full accounting, compare those requirements before switching. Recurring invoices do not provide an included-hours or rollover retainer ledger. The app runs on the web, with an installable PWA and a Chrome companion rather than native mobile apps.
Can we check the data and leave if it is not a fit?
Yes. Start with one client and compare the draft against your current process. Export clients, projects and tracked time to CSV, and keep invoice PDFs. You can cancel the subscription from billing settings; a paid cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
