On paid plans, yes. Connect your own SMTP server, Amazon SES, or Resend and invoices go out from your domain. On Free, they send through Hoursmith's built-in sender.

Yes. Managers, Admins, and Owners on Studio or Agency can schedule repeatable manual fees, eligible unbilled hourly time and expenses, or a hybrid. Each occurrence can become a normal Draft for review or be emailed with guarded auto-send; variable and hybrid auto-send require a grand-total ceiling. Hoursmith sends the invoice and its payment link but never charges the client automatically.

Yes — on Studio and above, clients can pay sent invoices with a balance due via Stripe Connect. The money lands in your own Stripe account (we never hold or route your funds), the invoice automatically marks itself paid, and your client gets an emailed payment receipt. You control which methods each invoice offers — card plus any number of bank-transfer or custom methods (cheque, Wise, UPI…) — and can optionally add a processing fee to any method, percentage or flat, that the client pays on top (the invoice total never changes; the fee is always disclosed before they pay — charged automatically at card checkout, or added by the client when they pay a bank/custom method off-platform). Partial payments work, and Owners/Admins can record offline payments while an invoice is sent. On Free you still get sent-invoice share links, manual payment methods, and view tracking — just not card payments.

Your data is isolated per workspace, and it stays yours: export your clients, projects, and tracked time to CSV whenever you want, and delete your account — and everything in it — at any time.

Yes — Hoursmith lets you create as many workspaces as you need on every plan, including Free. Each workspace is its own organization with its own clients, projects, invoices, and team, and each one bills independently. You can switch between them from the workspace menu in the top-left of the app.

Yes. A fixed-fee project has its own contract balance: choose it in the invoice builder and allocate all or part of what remains. Draft invoices reserve that amount, while sent and paid invoices count it as invoiced. You can also add custom lines and billable expenses; 15-minute rounding applies only to hourly time.

Yes — on every plan. Log an expense against a client with a category and up to 10 receipt files, mark it billable, and pull it onto an invoice in a click; billed expenses appear under their own Expenses group and can never be double-billed. You can attach the receipts to the invoice as supporting documents, alongside an auto-generated, client-safe timesheet.
